NADH - 細胞能量生產
的 NADH supplement for people who refuse to run on empty. 10 mg of stabilized, active coenzyme 1 per capsule, delivered in the reduced form your mitochondria actually use to make ATP. More cellular energy, sharper focus, faster reactions, and the “youth switch” sirtuins depend on — in one capsule a day.
For endurance athletes
Fuel the mitochondria that decide your aerobic ceiling. NADH is the electron carrier that turns oxygen into ATP — the deepest layer of endurance performance, below carbs, below caffeine.
For brain & mental performance
NADH is a cofactor in dopamine and noradrenaline synthesis. Clinical trials link oral NADH to better alertness, reaction time and cognitive performance when you are tired, jet-lagged or sleep-deprived.
For anti-aging & wellbeing
The NAD⁺/NADH pool declines with age. NADH feeds the sirtuin enzymes and mitochondrial biogenesis pathways that longevity research is built around — without the conversion steps NMN and NR require.
Why SCN™ NADH?
- Cellular energy production – NADH is the coenzyme that drives ATP synthesis in every mitochondrion
- Stimulates mitochondrial biogenesis – more and better-functioning mitochondria over time
- Improves mental clarity, alertness and concentration
- Supports memory and reaction time, especially under fatigue
- Increases dopamine production via the tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4) pathway
- Supports metabolism and efficient fuel oxidation
- Activates sirtuins – the NAD-dependent “longevity” enzymes
- Stabilized disodium NADH, 10 mg per capsule – the active reduced form, not a precursor
- Doping-free – NADH is a naturally occurring coenzyme, not a stimulant and not a prohibited substance

What is NADH and why does every cell need it?
輔酶A stands for nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) + hydrogen (H). It is the reduced, “charged” form of coenzyme 1 — a molecule made from niacin (vitamin B3) that is present in every living cell and takes part in more than a thousand metabolic reactions. Its single most important job is carrying high-energy electrons from the food you eat to the mitochondria, where those electrons are used to build ATP, the energy currency of the body.
Think of it this way: carbohydrates and fats are the fuel, but NADH is the spark that moves the energy from the fuel into something your muscles, heart and brain can actually spend. The more NADH a cell has available, the more chemical energy it can produce. For every molecule of NADH oxidised in the electron transport chain, the mitochondria can generate up to three molecules of ATP.
NADH vs NAD⁺ vs NMN – what’s the difference?
| Molecule | What it is | What has to happen before it produces energy |
|---|---|---|
| 輔酶A (SCN™ NADH) | The reduced, electron-loaded form of coenzyme 1 | Nothing – it donates its electrons to Complex I of the electron transport chain to drive ATP synthesis |
| NAD⁺ | The oxidised, “empty” form of the same coenzyme | Must be re-loaded with electrons (reduced to NADH) inside the cell |
| NMN / NR | Precursors – building blocks of NAD | Must be absorbed, converted to NAD⁺, then reduced to NADH |
Your cells need both NAD⁺ and NADH, and they constantly cycle between the two. Supplementing the reduced form gives you the energy-carrying molecule directly, while still supporting the overall NAD pool.
How does an NADH supplement work in the body?
Stabilized delivery. Free NADH is destroyed by stomach acid within minutes. SCN™ uses stabilized disodium NADH in a capsule so the coenzyme reaches the small intestine and is absorbed intact. Studies with stabilized oral NADH have measured an increase in intracellular NADH-dependent enzyme activity after 4 weeks of daily use.
Electron transport & ATP. Inside the mitochondria, NADH hands its electrons to Complex I. This drives the proton gradient that powers ATP synthase – the molecular turbine that produces ATP. NADH also regenerates reduced coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinol) in the process.
Neurotransmitter synthesis. NADH is a cofactor for the enzyme that makes tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4). BH4 is rate-limiting for tyrosine hydroxylase, the enzyme that converts tyrosine into L-DOPA and then dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline. More NADH shifts this equilibrium toward greater endogenous dopamine production.
Sirtuin activation & mitochondrial biogenesis. Sirtuins are NAD-dependent enzymes that regulate oxidative stress defence, inflammation genes and the mitochondrial biogenesis programme (via PGC-1α). A healthy NAD/NADH pool keeps these “longevity switches” on.
Antioxidant recycling. NADH is one of the body’s primary reducing agents, regenerating glutathione and other antioxidants that protect the mitochondria from the free radicals produced during intense training.

NADH for endurance athletes: energy at the source
Every SCN™ formula is designed around the needs of runners, cyclists, triathletes, swimmers and rowers. NADH sits at the very bottom of the performance stack: carbohydrates (see Endurance Carbs) supply the fuel, Bicarb-Lytes¹⁰ buffers the acid, but NADH is the molecule that determines how fast that fuel becomes ATP.
- Higher aerobic energy yield – NADH is the main electron donor for oxidative phosphorylation, the system that powers everything from a steady-state ride to a marathon
- Better oxygen utilisation – a German trial in trained athletes taking 30 mg/day reported improved oxygen use and lower post-exercise blood lactate
- Faster reactions under fatigue – in a double-blind cross-over study, simple visual reaction time after an anaerobic test was about 9% faster after 4 weeks of NADH
- Preserved explosive power – the same study found counter-movement jump height 6–8% higher both at rest and 2 minutes after a VO₂max test
- Lower lactate after high-intensity efforts – finger-tip lactate measured 1 minute after an anaerobic test was ~29% lower in the NADH phase
- Mental sharpness in long events – NADH supports dopamine and noradrenaline, the neurotransmitters that keep focus and motivation alive when glycogen is low
- Mitochondrial density – NADH supports the sirtuin/PGC-1α pathway that training uses to build more mitochondria
- Recovery and antioxidant defence – NADH regenerates the antioxidant systems that protect muscle cells after hard sessions
Figures from Mero et al., Journal of Sports Sciences 2008 (30 mg/day, double-blind cross-over, n=8). The same trial found no change in VO₂max or maximal anaerobic running time over 4 weeks – NADH is not a quick fix for aerobic capacity; its strengths are energy availability, reaction speed and resilience to fatigue.
Which endurance athletes benefit most?
Marathon & ultra runners
Long, low-glycogen efforts where mental clarity and sustained ATP turnover matter more than peak power.
Cyclists & triathletes
Multi-hour aerobic work and repeated surges – the Birkmayer athlete studies were run on international-level cyclists and triathletes.
Masters athletes (40+)
The NAD pool falls with age. NADH is the one supplement that addresses both the energy and the longevity side of training after 40.
Shift workers, travellers & students
Jet-lag and sleep-deprivation trials show NADH helps cognitive performance and reduces sleepiness when the body clock is disrupted.
NADH for brain health, energy and healthy aging
You do not have to race to need more cellular energy. The same molecule that powers a cyclist’s quadriceps powers your neurons, your heart and your immune cells.
- Increase energy and reduce everyday fatigue – oral NADH has been used for decades to support energy levels
- Mental clarity, focus and memory – a 2024 randomized placebo-controlled trial found a 14.3% greater improvement in cognitive abilities with 10 mg NADH/day plus exercise versus placebo
- Sharper under sleep deprivation and jet lag – double-blind trials show better vigilance, reaction time and less sleepiness after NADH
- Dopamine, noradrenaline and serotonin support – NADH is a cofactor in the synthesis of the neurotransmitters linked to mood, motivation and drive
- Mood and emotional balance through the same neurotransmitter pathways
- Antioxidant and free-radical scavenging power that supports the immune system
- Sirtuin activation – the “youth” enzymes that regulate inflammation genes, fat storage and glucose metabolism
- Mitochondrial health as you age – NADH supports the biogenesis and function of the organelles that decline first with aging
What are mitochondria and why does NADH matter to them?
Mitochondria are the power houses of the cell – the engines where energy (ATP) is produced. They supply energy to every cell in the form of ATP, and this is exactly where NADH comes in. NADH feeds the electron transport chain, regenerates ubiquinol (the reduced form of coenzyme Q10) and provides the reducing power that lets the mitochondria produce ATP. Without NADH the mitochondria cannot produce energy, and the cell cannot survive. If you also take Ubiquinol Forte, the two work on the same chain – NADH upstream, ubiquinol downstream.
And what are sirtuins?
Sirtuins are a family of enzymes found in the mitochondria and the cell nucleus. They require large amounts of NAD/NADH to do their job. When they are working properly, sirtuins promote resistance to the oxidative stress generated by constant mitochondrial “burning”, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They can also switch off genes linked to inflammation, cell senescence and accelerated aging. Research into how sirtuins control aging is booming, and activating them is one of the ways we can take control over at least one of the body’s aging switches.

Can I get NADH from food?
Fish, poultry, beef and products made with yeast or yeast extracts all contain NADH – but it is a highly volatile molecule that is largely destroyed by cooking and by stomach acid, which makes it very hard for the body to absorb and use dietary NADH. That is exactly why oral NADH was for many years only given intravenously, and why a stabilized NADH supplement is the practical way to raise intracellular levels.
NADH supplement – frequently asked questions
What does an NADH supplement do?
NADH supplies the reduced coenzyme your mitochondria use to make ATP. Supplementing it supports cellular energy production, mental clarity, alertness and reaction time, dopamine synthesis, and the sirtuin enzymes linked to healthy aging.
Is NADH better than NMN or NR?
They are different stages of the same pathway. NMN and NR are precursors that must be converted into NAD⁺ and then reduced to NADH before they can carry electrons. NADH is the finished, electron-loaded coenzyme. In a 2025 network meta-analysis of NAD precursors, NADH showed the strongest effect on cognitive performance. Many people use NADH on its own; some combine it with a precursor.
How much NADH should I take per day?
Clinical studies use 5–30 mg per day. SCN™ NADH provides 10 mg per capsule – the most common study dose. Take 1 capsule daily; athletes following research protocols sometimes use 2–3 capsules daily for a 4-week block. Do not exceed the recommended dose without professional advice.
When is the best time to take NADH?
In the morning on an empty stomach, about 30 minutes before food, with a glass of water. Absorption is best without food, and NADH’s alertness-supporting effect is more useful early in the day than late. On training days, take it before the session.
Is NADH a stimulant? Will it affect my sleep?
No. NADH is not a stimulant and contains no caffeine. It supports energy by improving how your cells produce ATP, not by stimulating the nervous system. Taken in the morning it does not interfere with sleep.
Is NADH allowed in competitive sport?
Yes. NADH is a naturally occurring coenzyme and is not on the WADA prohibited list. SCN™ products are made in Europe under doping-free, cross-contamination-safe procedures.
How long until I feel NADH working?
Some people notice sharper focus within the first few days; the clinical trials on reaction time, lactate and cognitive performance used 4 weeks of daily use. We recommend a minimum 4-week block, which is why multi-buy pricing is available.
Why is your NADH “stabilized”?
Free NADH breaks down within minutes in stomach acid. The stabilized disodium salt form in SCN™ NADH keeps the molecule intact through digestion so it can be absorbed. Trials with stabilized oral NADH have measured a rise in NADH-dependent enzyme activity in the cells, confirming it gets where it needs to go.
Who should not take NADH?
NADH has an excellent safety record at the doses used in trials, with no serious side effects reported. As with any supplement, if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a medical condition or take medication, speak to your doctor first.
