What is hydrolyzed whey protein isolate — and why isn’t it enough on its own?
Whey protein isolate is whey that has been micro-filtered to at least 90% protein, stripping away most of the lactose, fat and carbohydrate found in standard whey concentrate. Spray-dried, instantised egg white (albumen) protein chosen for high bioavailability, easy mixing and a clean taste. Egg white contains around 40 different proteins — ovalbumin is the most abundant at roughly 55%, followed by ovotransferrin, an iron-binding protein. The science behind Complete x4
Hydrolyzed and isolated proteins: faster amino acid delivery
Hydrolysis breaks protein into di- and tri-peptides and free amino acids that require little further digestion. Studies comparing whey hydrolysate with intact whey consistently show a faster and higher rise in blood amino acids after hydrolysate, which is why it is the preferred form in the immediate post-exercise window when muscle protein synthesis is most responsive. DigeZyme® and delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS): double-blind, placebo-controlled trial
Delayed-onset muscle soreness — stiffness, swelling, tenderness and reduced strength peaking 24–72 hours after unaccustomed or eccentric exercise — is a well-documented barrier to consistent training. Anti-inflammatory drugs are commonly used but can interfere with the healing process.
In a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 20 healthy male participants received either placebo or a DigeZyme® multi-enzyme complex capsule (50 mg) three times daily for 3 days after standardised eccentric exercise. DigeZyme® reduced exercise-induced pain and tenderness, with significant improvements in the McGill Pain Questionnaire in the active group, and a declining trend in the muscle-damage biomarkers creatine kinase and lactate dehydrogenase.

Is hydrolyzed whey protein isolate better than regular whey protein?
For speed, yes. Hydrolyzed whey protein isolate is pre-digested into peptides and absorbed faster than whey concentrate or standard isolate, which makes it the best choice right after training. Complete x4 goes further by combining hydrolyzed and isolated whey, beef and egg proteins so you get both the fast peak and a sustained supply.
Is Complete x4 suitable if I’m lactose intolerant?
It is designed to be very well tolerated. Two of the four proteins (beef and egg white) contain no lactose at all, Isolac® whey isolate is low in lactose, and the formula includes the lactase enzyme as part of DigeZyme®. Many people who get bloated from regular whey find it comfortable. If you have a diagnosed milk allergy (not intolerance), note that it does contain milk protein.
How much protein is in one scoop?

Why beef and egg protein — isn’t whey the king of proteins?

Combining the three gives a broader amino acid spectrum and a longer delivery curve than whey alone.
Can I use it as a meal replacement?
Complete x4 is a protein supplement, not a complete meal. Pair it with a carbohydrate source and healthy fats if you want to use it as part of a meal.
